Privacy policy

Last updated: October 2026. This page explains what stores, why, for how long, who helps us, and what your rights are. We collect as little as we can. Some features (payments, emails, notifications, personal ideas and the bot check) are switched on step by step; this policy describes what happens when you use them.

Who we are

is run by Hanna Rahautsova (NIP 8982273139), wirtualne biuro, Poland (“we”). We are responsible for your personal data (the “controller”). You can reach us at tiny.joys.advent@gmail.com.

What we store

Some things we use once and don’t store: the email address for “Email me my links”, and the description for personal ideas (see below).

Please don’t put sensitive information into a calendar or a description, such as health details or someone’s religion or political views. We never ask for it.

Why we use it (legal basis)

No law or contract requires you to give us any data. Without it, we simply can’t make a calendar, take a payment or send you an email.

The recipient and other people in a calendar

The recipient does not give us their data themselves: the giver types in the recipient’s name and may add text, photos or voice messages about them or about other people. If you are a giver, only add what the people in it would be happy to share. If you are the recipient, or someone in a photo or voice message, you have the same rights as everyone else (see below). The recipient can also delete the calendar themselves from its menu, on the device where they first opened it.

How we keep it safe

What stays on your device

The site uses no cookies. It uses your browser’s local storage for these things, only on your device:

The list itself is never sent to us. Our server only sees a calendar’s link when the page uses it, for example to open the calendar or to show whether it is Premium, and the device key only to compare its fingerprint. Each item is needed for a feature you use or ask for, so under the EU ePrivacy rules it needs no consent banner. You can remove any calendar from My calendars, or clear everything by clearing this site’s data in your browser.

The site uses your microphone only when you tap to record a voice message, and only after your browser asks for your permission. If you turn on notifications, the browser also installs a small helper (a service worker) that only shows the reminders and stores no calendar content.

Emails

We send emails through Resend, and only the ones you ask for. They contain no tracking pixels.

Notifications

After the first door has been opened, the recipient can turn on a morning notification. Your browser asks for permission first. Your browser’s push service (for example Apple for Safari, Google for Chrome or Mozilla for Firefox) then gives us an address for your device, which we store with two encryption keys. Each morning we send one short message through that service (“Door 5 is open”) with a link to the calendar. The message is encrypted, so the push service can’t read it, but it does see that a message was sent to your device and when. We delete the address after the last door, when you turn notifications off, when the push service tells us the address no longer works, or when the calendar is deleted.

Payments

When payments are on, you pay for Premium on Stripe Checkout, a payment page run by Stripe Payments Europe, Limited (Ireland). You enter your payment details and email address on Stripe’s page, not ours, and we never see your card. Stripe handles payment data as an independent controller, under its own privacy policy, to process the payment, prevent fraud and meet its legal duties, and it emails you the receipt. If tax is calculated automatically, Stripe also asks for your billing address; we don’t store it. Stripe tells us the result and the details listed under “Purchases” above.

Personal ideas (Premium)

A giver with Premium can describe the recipient in a sentence or two and get 5 ideas for the doors. Our server sends that description, the language and who the calendar is for (for example “a friend”) to Anthropic PBC (USA), whose AI model writes the ideas. We add no names, no calendar text, no photos and no links, and the request comes from our server, not your browser. We don’t store the description or the ideas; we only count requests to keep the limits. Anthropic processes the request on our behalf under its commercial API terms: it does not use it to train its models and keeps it only for a short time set out in those terms, longer only where needed to enforce its usage policies or required by law. Please don’t put names, contact details or sensitive information into the description. The ideas are written by AI, so read them before you use them.

What we don’t do

Who processes the data for us

All of them work only on our instructions, under data processing agreements. Our providers may keep backups for a short time; deleted data disappears from them when they are overwritten and is never put back into the service. Stripe, the browsers’ push services and the services that links lead to are not our processors: they decide themselves how they use data, under their own privacy policies.

Other services, only when a link is used

When a giver adds a link to YouTube, Spotify, Vimeo, SoundCloud or TikTok, our server asks that service for the title of the song or video. Only the link is sent, from our server; your IP address is not.

When the recipient taps Play on a YouTube, Spotify, Vimeo or SoundCloud link, that service’s player loads inside the door (YouTube in its privacy-enhanced mode). Other links open the service’s own site in a new tab. From that moment the service receives the recipient’s IP address and may use its own cookies, under its own privacy policy and its own responsibility. Nothing loads from these services before that tap.

Data outside the EU

Calendars, photos, voice messages and our database are stored in the EU. Cloudflare runs a global network, so a request may be handled in a data center near the visitor, also outside the EU, and Cloudflare is a US company. Resend and Anthropic are US companies and process data in the USA. Stripe, the push services and the services we ask for titles may also process data outside the EU. Where data leaves the EU, the EEA or the UK, we rely on the EU–US Data Privacy Framework (and its UK extension) where the company is certified under it, and otherwise on the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses (with the UK addendum). You can ask us for a copy of these safeguards.

How long we keep it

Every calendar has a deletion date, counted from the day of its last door. After that date we delete the calendar with all its text, photos, voice messages, links, reminders and its album link. A check runs every day, and a calendar past its date is treated as deleted straight away, even before the daily check.

Calendars made during the beta stay Premium for free, also after payments start, so the Premium rules apply to them. If the payment for one calendar is refunded, it goes back to Free and the Free rules apply from then on; if its Free period is already over, we keep it for 30 more days from the refund and then delete it. Refunding a pack of 3 cancels only its unused codes: calendars already upgraded with them stay Premium.

Deleting sooner. The giver can delete the calendar at any time from the edit link. The recipient can delete the calendar, or the album after the last door, from the device on which they first opened the recipient link (we record when that happened). Deleting removes everything at once, for both people, and cannot be undone.

Other data:

Children

You must be at least 16 to make a calendar, join the email list or ask for reminders. To pay, you must be an adult or have a parent’s permission. A parent or another adult can make a calendar for a child of any age, and decides what goes into it. If you think a child under 16 has given us data, write to us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we update this page and the date at the top. For important changes we also show a note on the site.

Your rights and how to contact us

You have the right to:

Write to tiny.joys.advent@gmail.com. Because there are no accounts, please include the calendar’s link, so we can find it and know the request is genuine; for emails and purchases, write from that address. We answer within one month. We can’t delete order records while the law requires us to keep them. The giver can also change or delete a calendar at any time with the edit link, and download everything in it as a ZIP file with “Download everything” in its settings. Every email has a one-click unsubscribe link.

You also have the right to complain to a data protection authority. The authority responsible for us is the President of the Personal Data Protection Office in Poland (Prezes Urzędu Ochrony Danych Osobowych, ul. Stawki 2, 00-193 Warsaw, uodo.gov.pl). You can also complain in the EU country where you live or work, or where you think the problem happened. In the UK, this is the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).
